Listening to this song always takes me back to certain place in my life, a place I don't think my heart and mind ever left. I met this guy two years ago from the day I am writing this. We got along, we were pretty great. I love the music he shared, he love the music I shared to him. We talked about everything and anything we could. Everyday he would stary my mornings, and he'd tell me what happened during his day while he was on his way home. I just graduated high school, he's in 11th grade. I'm two years older at 19, and during that time I've been doubting if I would ever be able to genuinely love anyone other than myself all the while taking a break from school for my mental health. At the time, I found comfort in him that I was unaware that I gradually developed feelings for him, but I was scared of relationships and committments to even try letting him know how I felt. When I was about to tell him, he met my friend. A friend who's very dear to me, someone I've relied to and always had my back. I knew that my friend had a crush on him no matter how much he denied it to me. You just know when you know. I was paralyzed, but I knew that I can't be unfair and go against my own friend. I started to friend zone him and stopped responding to his subtle flirting, all for the sake of my friend. I tried acting cool about supporting him and my friend while I was dying deep inside everyday I see them get closer with every interaction they make. I couldn't stand it that I started pursuing someone else to distract myself from what I was feeling, in hindsight it was an immature and horrible decision. Later on, I started dating my then-girlfriend but she cheated on me with her ex. He was the person I ran to when I was devastated, cried on his shoulders all day and poured all the betrayed hurt emotions I had then. While I was crying to him, I was hoping I told him sooner then maybe I wouldn't be hurting. But, yes, I didn't say anything and kept it all to myself again. Until I got back together with my then-girlfriend, of course I was happy that she came back to me and I told him all about it. Weeks later, he started dating my friend. Of course, I was hurt despite already being in a relationship with someone else. But I brushed it off, we moved on with our lives. A few months went by, I was talking to him at midnight on a weekend. We got pretty deep that he suddenly told me he used to have a crush on me but he got scared when I once said "I don't believe in love and relationships or committments." What he said had me holding back tears, I felt my chest constrict. I couldn't breathe while I tried to keep my composure, I told him I "once" felt the same way. I had to twist my words to hide the truth that I still have feelings for him. A few more months had gone by and he met a girl, she's 6 years older than him. He told me about her and how much he likes her, he said that he has a crush on her because "she reminds me of you" which took my by surprise. But I tried to down play it, brushing it off as him thinking of me as his older brother. After they met, he began ghosting me and my friend, who was his boyfriend at the time. He stopped talking to the both of us. He came back on my 21st birthday, we talked days on end and confessed that he had been dating the girl he met. During this time, me and my then-girlfriend started to have a fall out which led to our break up. Ironic, isn't it? "When I got somebody, you don't. When you got somebody, I don't." Hits home for me in this. But what makes this complicated is that, he is dating my friend and the girl he had met. I know about it but I didn't say anything. Before his 19th birthday, he ghosted me and my friend again. On Valentines Day, he came back. We talked. He told me he just wanted to know how I've been and tell me happy valentines. When we went our ways, I haven't heard back from him. My friend said he didn't receive any message from him. Three months had gone by, I thought he wouldn't open any of his social media accounts anymore which gave me the courage to send him a confession of how I feel about. It's already quarantine around this time. A day later, he messaged me out of the blue. Which caught me off guard. He told me he felt the same way, he still does. And he always did, he just didn't want to say anything about it. Around this time, I started a new relationship with someone else. He's still in a relationship with the girl he met. We were both committed, and we can't do anything about it. We gave ourselves a few days to openly express our love for each other, just a few stolen days for us. After that, he disappeared again. I know he's still in a relationship with her. For the next two months, I stayed in a relationship with my then-boyfriend before we broke up at the beginning of August. I think I've moved on from my previous relationship. But I don't think I've moved on from him at all. I still find myself thinking about him. I know I love him, I do. I still do. I always did. This song best describes what we had for each other in the last two years under just three minutes. P.S I told him about this song back in October 2019, while we were casually talking about how we "used to" have secret feelings for each other. He pointed out the 2:12 to 2:25 parts as being too loud, because that best describes how we always are. We sometimes forget about the rest of the world when we're together that it also slips our mind that we are committed to someone else, but when reality gives us a slap it hits us both straight across the face. He knows about this song, and I always play back that specific scene everytime I find myself here. If you read this far, wow.

I will always remember him everytime I listen to this song. Everything about us fits perfectly together like pieces in a puzzle, everything made sense between the both of us but the timing was never right. When we're both available, no one had the guts to let their guards down and say something. Then I started dating someone and thought I never stood a chance with him, leaving what we could have had to friendship. He started dating my friend a few weeks later. A few months later, he told me he had feelings for me but we could no longer do something about it then because we're both already committed to someone else. When me and my ex-girlfriend had broken up, he already started a new relationship with his current girlfriend. When I started dating someone new again, he told me he still have feelings for me despite still being in a relationship with his girlfriend. And, again, we can't do anything about it because we are both tied down. And now that me and my ex-boyfriend had broken up, he's still with her. And this song just describes how two people could be so perfect for each other, being each other's best half and making each other the best version of themselves but it just doesn't happen at the right time. The timing isn't always right. Life happens and it always gets in the way between you two that you just can't be together in the way you both want and hope for. But through it all, I still love him, I still do. Until the our time finally lines up.
